About Deoghar

Deoghar is a holy city beside the Mayurakshi River, in the east Indian state of Jharkhand and is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga's and also one of the 51 Shaktipeeth's. The ancient Baba Baidyanath Temple complex is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site. Nearby, Shiv Ganga is a sacred pool where devotees of Shiva, bath. There is a shrine to Krishna in the ornate, stone-carved Naulakha Mandir temple. Northeast of town, Harila Jori is the site of a whitewashed Shiva temple and a sacred water tank.

Deoghar, lovingly known as Baidyanath Dham, is a sacred city on the banks of the serene Mayurakshi River in Jharkhand. A vital spiritual hub, it is home to one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, drawing millions of devotees each year.

At its heart lies the ancient Baba Baidyanath Temple, where Lord Shiva is believed to have healed Ravana-hence the name "Baidyanath", or "Lord of Physicians." Nearby, the holy Shiv Ganga pond invites pilgrims for a ritual bath, while the elegant Naulakha Mandir, dedicated to Radha and Krishna, showcases stunning stone architecture.

To the northeast lies Harila Jori, a peaceful site believed to be where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati once rested. Not far from Deoghar, in the Giridih district, rises the sacred Parasnath Hill, also known as Shikharji. Atop this hill sits the revered Parasnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Parshvanath, the 23rd Tirthankara of Jainism. This is the holiest site for Jains, as 20 of the 24 Tirthankaras attained Nirvana here. The temple and its surrounding trails offer not only deep spiritual resonance but also breathtaking views and serene natural beauty.

With its sacred legends, spiritual diversity, and timeless serenity, Deoghar is more than a destination-it's a divine journey for the soul.
